WE DID IT!!!!

I have been waiting for the pictures we took on Saturday so I could post about our ride, but I haven't gotten them yet. So I thought I would go ahead and then maybe put the pictures up later.

Nan and I biked from one end of the Greenway to the other and back again. A total of 54 miles. Do you know what it is like to sit on a bike seat for 54 miles? Oh my, did my butt hurt. We started at mile 106 and biked to Losantville, mile 87. We stopped and had a snack, then we went back. We were almost to mile 106 when we came across this wonderful little place called The Island. This guy had built a little island in his back yard and fenced it off and made it look like you were really on an island. It had sand all over with beach chairs and real palm trees and tropical plants. Of course fake flamingos. He had a little shack where he made some very tasty treats. Nan and I both got the wild berry smoothie with a scoop of ice cream. It was a very cute little place and what a great idea. A much need rest for the rear was appreciated along with a cool drink. Well, we started on our way again and finally made it to Gaston, mile 113.5. We took some pictures and we were on our way. We pulled into the parking lot we were done. I have never moved that much in my whole life in one day I am sure of it. It took about 5.5 hours. I think if we do it again we can do it faster, but I am not sure when that will be. We had a great time and didn't really care how long it took us. Anyone is welcome if we do it again, just let us know if you want to have a sore butt for days.

When you said you wanted someone to bike with, I was thinking more along the line of ...say 5 miles :) Way to go!!!

Holy Cow! That's tough stuff Mandy! I can't believe it! I can't wait to see the pics! I'm proud of myself if I do like 3 miles on the stationary bike! Wow! Great job to you and Nan!

Wow, Mandy (and Nan)!! I am super impressed! I used to go bike riding with my brothers on the Provo River Trail, which went from Bridal Veil Falls in Provo Canyon down to Utah Lake, a total of about 15 miles. I rode the whole distance on a few separate occasions and felt ready to die (in an oddly refreshing sort of way) after each trip. Of course, a lot of that trail is uphill through the mountains, but still...flat or not, your bike ride totally takes the cake! Way to go!
